Hornet (Vespa crabro), eating a rotten, mouldy, plum. Plum pulp can be seen in the hornet's massive jaws. It is accompanied by a couple of flies. These large wasps have distinctive brown and yellow protective colouration and are much larger than any other wasp seen in the UK. Bedgebury Forest, Kent, UK. 13 August 2006.
