The ornate and grandiose arms of the long defunct London, Chatham and Dover Railway dominate the southern end on the now dismantled Blackfriars railway bridge across the River Thames to Blackfriars in the City of London. The bridge, also known as the Alexandria Railway Bridge and the St Paul's Railway Bridge was partially dismantled in 1984. The arms of Dover , Chatham, Kent and the City of London are incorporated together with 'Invicta', unconquered, the motto of Kent, V for Queen Victoria and the date 1864 with a crown and roses.
