Yellow and black caterpillars, lava, of the Cinnabar Moth (Tyria jacobaeae) on a bare stem of Common Ragwort (Senecio jacobaea). The warning colouration, long hairs, poisons and unpleasant taste from eating ragwort, allow these caterpillars to feed in the open on the tender tips of the plants without being molested by birds. These have completelty stripped their host plant of leaves and flowers, used up all their resources. Bedgebury Forest, Kent, UK. 13 July 2006.
