The alkaline grassland, machair, on the Atlantic coast of the Western Isles provides good pasture for sheep. Inland of that is acidic peat bog. Here the peat is eroded by the mouth of a stream to give a small areas of mud flats. Blue sky and a double rainbow in the background with Berneray and the mountains of Harris in the distance. Isle of North Uist, Scotland, UK. 13 October 2005
