The ornate red-painted pillars of the partially dismantled old Blackfriars railway bridge still stride across the River Thames to Blackfriars in the City of London. The bridge, also known as the Alexandria Railway Bridge and the St Paul's Railway Bridge, was designed by Joseph Cubitt for the London, Chatham and Dover Railway and opened in 1864. It was dismantled in 1984. Southwark, London, UK. 15 November 2005.
